Born in 2002 in South Korea, Jeein You began playing the cello at the age of five. After studying with Myung-wha Chung at the Korea National University of Arts Preschool and the Korea Institute for Gifted in Arts, she entered the CNSMD in Paris at the age of 13 in the class of Michel Strauss.
Jeein was taught by renowned cellists such as Arto Noras, Frans Helmerson, Philippe Muller, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and Gautier Capuçon. She was selected as the laureate of Gautier Capuçon’s Cello Class of Excellence at the Fondation Louis Vuitton for three seasons from 2019-2022.
In the 2022-2023 season, Jeein will perform both in her home country, South Korea, and in Europe. She will be giving a recital at the Seoul Arts Center in the IBK Hall. She will also be touring the Old Continent with Gautier Capuçon and the Capucelli Ensemble, including performances at the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Dortmund Konzerthaus, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, the Salle Métropole in Lausanne, and the Victoria Hall in Geneva. In 2021, this ensemble of seven cellists recorded works that were released in 2022 on Gautier Capuçon’s album, Sensations.
Jeein has won numerous international competitions, including the 5th Dotzauer International Competition for Young Cellists in Dresden (Germany), the 23rd International Cello Competition in Heran (Czech Republic), the 11th Osaka International Music Competition (Japan), and the 10th International Competition for Young Musicians in Tallinn (Estonia), where she performed Haydn’s Concerto in C with the Tallinn Philharmonic Orchestra.
