Born in 2000 to a French father and a Ukrainian mother, Adrian Herpe embodies a dual cultural heritage that deeply shapes his musical language. He began studying piano at the School of Arts in Uzhhorod, in Western Ukraine, before continuing his training at a specialized music institution, where he cultivated his passion for music until the age of 19.
After receiving several distinctions in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, he moved to Belgium to study at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with highest honors. There, he studied under Johan Schmidt and Yoko Kikuchi.
His development has been enriched by masterclasses with renowned artists such as Michel Beroff, Denis Pascal, Robert Levin, Dmitry Alexeev, and Elisabeth Leonskaya. He also studied historical performance practice with the fortepianist Claire Chevallier.
Adrian is currently continuing his advanced studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, in the piano class of Anna Malikova and the chamber music class of Avedis Kouyoumdjian. In 2024, he was awarded scholarships from the Yamaha and Safran Foundations and received the third prize at the Bösendorfer Competition held at the prestigious Musikverein in Vienna.
His personal commitment to Ukraine is reflected in a series of benefit concerts held in France, with proceeds donated to humanitarian aid organizations.
Deeply drawn to the large-scale works of the Romantic and post-Romantic repertoire, Adrian is particularly inspired by the worlds of Brahms, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev. He also explores contemporary music with great curiosity and is passionate about historical performance, which he approaches as a way to renew his listening and question tradition.
