Nineteen-year-old Maya Oganyan has been living and studying in Venice since 2011. Born in Moscow, she began studying piano there at the age of four, then graduating with top marks and an honorable mention from the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice. The combination of Russian and Italian schools is key to understanding and interpreting Maya’s repertoire.
Maya is a prize-winner of over 20 national and international competitions, including, at only 17 years old, as the youngest finalist and winner of the 2nd Prize in the history of the competition, the Jury Prize and the Special Prize “for the best female talent” at the Verona International Piano Competition, in which she participated as the youngest candidate. In 2024 she is selected as “student in residence” at the Verbier Soloists Academy of the 31st Verbier Festival, where she participates in concerts and attends masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians, including Sir Andras Schiff, Rena Shereshevskaya, Kirill Gerstein, Joaquin Achucarro, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, Andras Keller.
She performs throughout Italy and abroad with numerous orchestras, among which the Orchestra Filarmonica della Fenice, the Orchestra Arena di Verona and the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. A passionate chamber musician, she regularly collaborates with celebrated musicians, including Steven Isserlis, Ian Bostridge, Christophe Coin, the Adorno Quartet and others.
She currently continues her studies under the guidance of Maestro Roberto Prosseda at the Prato Academy, with Maestro Enrico Pace and Maestro Benedetto Lupo at the Pinerolo Academy and regularly attends the advanced training course with Maestro Lilya Zilberstein at the Accademia Chigiana.
