Born in Hyères in 1999, Kim Bernard began to study piano at the age of 5 with Michelle Mary. He met Bernard d’Ascoli and Eleanor Harris in 2008 and became a student of Piano Cantabile. In June 2011, he obtained his DEM in piano at the age of 12, unanimously with congratulations of the jury.
In 2012, he won the first prize at the Montrond-les-Bains international competition in the under 17 category, then the first prize at the Nuits pianistiques competition in Aix-en-Provence.
In the fall of 2013, he was admitted with exemption to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in the class of Florent Boffard. In June 2016, he obtained his bachelor’s degree and then in 2018 his master’s degree in the class of Laurent Cabasso. In November 2018, he began a concert cycle at the CRR of Paris in the class of Jérôme Granjon and won 3rd prize in the Cziffra competition in Senlis.
He gave recitals at the Mucem in Marseille and took part in festivals in the Var region during the summer of 2019, then as part of the “Young Talents” programming at the Petit Palais in Paris. In the summer of 2021, he participated in the concert tour “Un été en France” with Gautier Capuçon and has since become the first laureate of his foundation. As such, he has recorded his first CD for Warner Classics / Erato in the collection “La Fondation Gautier Capuçon présente”.
He is also fond of chamber music and has performed regularly in various festivals: Verbier, Variations musicales de Tannay, Impérial Annecy Festival…
