A graduate of the Paris Conservatory (CNSM) and the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, Léon Haffner is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Berlin in Ulf Wallin’s class.
Passionate about chamber music, he became concertmaster of the Orchestre français des Jeunes, then joined the European Union Youth Orchestra, as well as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra Academy. He has also been a member of the Seiji Ozawa, Prussia Cove, and NUME international academies, which have helped shape his musical personality.
As a chamber musician, he has performed alongside Gautier Capuçon, Frank Braley, Erich Höbarth, David Gaillard, and Andreas Brantelid on international stages such as the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Schloss Elmau, the Yellow Barn Music Festival, the Bolzano Festival, and others. Léon is regularly invited to perform with prestigious European orchestras, such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
In 2024, he participated in the Queen Elisabeth International Competition and became a laureate of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon. He plays a late-17th century violin by Francesco Ruggeri, generously loaned by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
