The italian cellist Luca Giovannini has emerged as an outstanding artist of his generation. He is the winner of the prestigious J. Brahms competition 2018, third prize at the Schœnfeld competition and second prize at the Janigro young competition 2016.

He performed as a soloist in many venues, such as the Brahms Saal des Musikvereines in Vienna, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Carnegie Hall in New York, Berlin Philharmonie, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the “Sale Apollinee” della Fenice in Venice and “Della Pergola” theatre in Florence.
Luca appeared with many orchestras around the world such as the City Philaharmonic of Tokyo conducted by M° Yuki Miyagi, “I Virtuosi Italiani” conducted by M° Piero Martini, the OPV orchestra conducted by M° F. Rosa, the Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina Orchestra and the Orchestra “I solisti Veneti”. During his studies, Luca has been member of the cello class of excellence with M° Gautier Capuçon at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris and of the R. Romanini Academy in Brescia, Italy, with the cellist-composer G. Sollima and he is currently studying at the Kronberg Academy under the guidance of Frans Helmerson. The studies are supported by Mrs. Angela Winkler stipendium.
He regurlarly take part to music festivals such as the Seiji Ozawa International Academy or the Gstaad String Academy and took part in masterclass and collaborated with many artists, including A. Schiff, L. Harrell, D. Geringas, S. Isserlis, G. Kremer, M. Maisky, G. Hoffman, A. Tamestit, K. Gerstein, N. Gutmann, E. Dindo, M. Brunello and I. Monighetti. In 2020, Luca recorded a CD for the “Velut Luna” label with the complete cello sonatas by J. Brahms with the pianist Leonora Armellini.
He has been supported by receiving the prestigious Boris Pergamenschikov stipendium and the M. Giorgetti scolarship from the “Filarmonica della Scala di Milano”.
Luca plays a 1927 Ansaldo Poggi cello, kindly granted by Maestro Mario Brunello.
